Dr. La Rose was born in Washington, DC. Her family was in the Air Force and therefore they moved frequently and lived in various states in the US, as well as in England, France, and Thailand. She moved to Alaska, over the Alaska Canadian Highway, in 1967.

She attended the University of South Florida where she attained her A.A. degree, and then graduated from the University of Washington in 1976 with a B.S. in Zoology. She was a member of the National Honor Society. Before attending medical school, she took EMT training at the University of Alaska, and worked two years in Galena Alaska as a health aide.

Dr. La Rose attended the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, California. She was a member of the Phi Delta National Honor Society. She completed two years of residency training at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in California, and went on to work for the National Health Service Corps in Tulsa, Oklahoma for four years. She started her private practice in Tulsa, and six years later joined a multi-specialty clinic (Springer Clinic) for another 9 years. She was the podiatrist for the Tulsa Ballet Theatre for fifteen years.

She has been the podiatrist for a medical mission trip to Guayana, South America and hopes to have further opportunities to work in this field and donate her time.

She is a speaker on general podiatry, diabetes, and advanced wound care with a special interest in limb salvage.

She is presently Medical Director for the Providence Medical Hospital Wound Center and consults on lower extremity wounds. She is Wound Care Certified.

Dr. La Rose is on staff at Providence Alaska Medical Center, Alaska Regional Hospital, Health South Alaska Surgery Center, Creekside Surgery Center.

Her interests include cross country skiing, mountain biking, fishing and spending time with her husband Gary and family, especially her many nieces and nephews, and her two labs Caeser and Cinder.
