Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dr. Boesenberg attended Manzano High School and graduated in 1974 with high honors. His formal education began at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico where he graduated with high honors with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minor in Philosophy. He graduated magna cum laude from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco in 1983. Following his graduation, he completed his residency training in Los Gatos, California.

After private practice in Albuquerque, the opportunity to move to Alaska presented itself in 1986. Alaska Podiatry Associates formed in 1992 with the consolidation of the private practices of Drs. Hogan and Holderness, with Dr. Swayman joining the group in 1993.

Due to the need for a more modern and larger facility, the offices were moved to the Alaska Regional Hospital in the summer of 2000.

Dr. Boesenberg's interests include both road and mountain biking, fly fishing, Nordic and Alpine skiing (especially heli-skiing), and hiking and mountaineering. He climbed Mt. McKinley's West Buttress and reached the summit of Denali on June 26, 2001. While indoors, he enjoys reading and the ongoing study of philosophy. Dr. Boesenberg and his family enjoy the Alaskan lifestyle and all that it offers.
